Republic of Lebanon, is a country in Western Asia. It is located between Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south, while Cyprus lies to its west across the Mediterranean Sea; its location at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin and the Arabian hinterland has contributed to its rich history and shaped a cultural identity of religious diversity. Official language of the state is Arabic, while French is also formally recognized; the Lebanese dialect of Arabic is used
Economy:
It has been experiencing, as of late 2019, a large-scale, multi-dimensional crisis, including a banking collapse, a liquidity crisis and a sovereign default. It used to be classified as a developing, upper-middle income economy. The nominal GDP was  estimated at $19 billion in 2020, with a per capita GDP amounting to $2,500. In 2018 government spending amounted to $15.9 billion, or 23% of GDP. The Lebanese economy significantly expanded after the war of 2006
